Olive Wood Sunburst Cross Pendant Necklace

Let your light shine with this beautifully carved pendant necklace. Handcrafted from olive wood with silver accents, the pendant features a sunburst design with a small cross in the center and hangs from a pure silver chain. Made by artisans in West Bank, this piece is a Ten Thousand Villages Exclusive.

HANDCRAFTED IN WEST BANK

  • Materials: Olive wood, pure silver chain and clasp
  • Measures: 18"L, Pendant: 1"Diameter
  • Colors: Natural, silver
  • Notes: While pure silver is softer than sterling silver, it is still an excellent choice for jewelry. Due to its softness, it has a beautiful, delicate drape and it tarnishes at a much slower rate than sterling silver. Pure silver is also a great choice for those with sensitive skin; because it is not an alloy it is hypoallergenic.

THE MAKERS

Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans (BFTA) celebrates ancient craft and wisdom through trade—a nonprofit NGO that improves the lives of marginalized groups across Palestine by bringing their goods and stories to market. The goal: Equality and justice by creating sustainable and equitable business models with a better work environment for makers who work with olive wood, embroidery, mother of pearl, olive oil soap, felt wool, and recycled products.Established in 2009, BFTA became the first guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) in the Middle East in 2015. Through trade relationships with organizations like Ten Thousand Villages, BFTA reaches new markets, doubling its sales in the past few years, and improving the quality of life for hundreds of artisans and their communities.
