Bring Your Product Idea to Life
Ten Thousand Villages works with skilled artisan partners around the world to develop custom, handcrafted products for businesses, nonprofit organizations, and retailers.
Custom orders may include adaptations of existing Ten Thousand Villages products or the development of an entirely new item based on your organization’s specifications. Depending on the project, customization may include:
- Product size, color, material, or design
- Custom boxes, packaging, or presentation
- Special quantities for events, promotions, retail programs, or organizational use
Our buying and product development teams will review your request and work with the appropriate artisan partner to assess feasibility, pricing, production timing, testing requirements, and minimum order quantities.
International Purchase Order Quote
Please share the details of your desired product order so we can determine how best to assist you.
Because our products are handcrafted by artisan partners special orders generally require a minimum of four months from order placement (after the sample is finalized) to delivery in the United States when air freight is used. Larger, more complex, or ocean-shipped orders will require additional time.
After submitting this form, a member of our buying team will contact you within three to five business days to discuss your request. Please note the $1,000 minimum order value when submitting your request.
Product Safety Testing
Custom products must meet applicable United States product safety and regulatory requirements.
Depending on the product’s materials, construction, intended use, age designation, packaging, and product category, laboratory testing or compliance documentation may be required before the order can be approved for importation and sale.
Testing requirements and costs vary by item. Your organization is responsible for all required product safety testing, laboratory, certification, and compliance-related fees. These costs are separate from product development, production, packaging, freight, customs, and delivery charges.
Ten Thousand Villages will communicate known testing requirements and estimated testing costs before final order approval whenever possible. Additional testing may be required if a product design, material, finish, or intended use changes during development.
Important Custom-Order Considerations
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a product can be produced. Final approval will depend on:
- Artisan partner capabilities and available materials
- Minimum production quantities
- Product development and sampling requirements
- Production capacity and timing
- Product safety and regulatory requirements
- Packaging and labeling requirements
- International freight and import considerations
- Final pricing and payment terms
Quotes may change if product specifications, order quantities, materials, packaging, freight costs, or testing requirements change.
Our team at Ten Thousand Villages looks forward to reviewing your request!
