Welcome to our global maker-to-market movement where, together with 20,000 artisans, we ignite social change. We create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities in developing countries to thrive through strong relationships, fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable practices.
These earrings from Kenya will be music to your earrings! The Music Theory earrings were crafted by makers at Trinity Jewelry Crafts, a small jewelry-making business located in one of the poorest sections of Nairobi. Using traditional African design as the inspiration for his jewelry creations, founder and manager Joseph Muchina works to preserve his country's past while creating a better future, offering training and employment opportunities to his community.

THE MAKERS
Trinity Jewelry Crafts is a small jewelry–making business located on the edge of Kariobangi, one of the poorest sections of Nairobi and home to thousands of Kenyans. Profits are shared by the group, artisans participate in decision making and workers benefit from a pension and savings program. Founder and manager Joseph Muchina received training to make jewelry through a handicraft program offered by the National Council of Churches of Kenya. He does all of the jewelry design, finding his inspiration in traditional African jewelry. Muchina believes that economic opportunity, rather than handouts from government or charities, is the most effective way to address poverty. Trinity Jewelry Crafts was founded by three partners in 1984, and has been family–owned since 1990. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Trinity Jewelry Crafts since 1988.
