Welcome to our global maker-to-market movement where, together with 20,000 artisans, we ignite social change. We create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities in developing countries to thrive through strong relationships, fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable practices.
Hand-loomed in Fulia, West Bengal, by makers practicing the art of their ancestors, this scarf takes its name from the weaving method used to create its colorful pattern. The bands of thin stripes and scattered blocks of blue, pink, yellow, brown and orange are created directly on the loom using a supplemental weft technique. Jamdani fabric is distinctly lightweight and breathable.

THE MAKERS
Sasha Exports is a nonprofit marketing outlet for many small member cooperatives of Sasha Association for Craft Producers. Sasha offers design services, and training in business skill development and other management principles. Sasha empowers artisans to run their businesses independently, building livelihoods for socially and economically marginalized producers. The wide range of crafts and textiles offered by Sasha draws on tradition, retaining cultural context, yet making products contemporary for present-day living. Sasha also hopes to revive a wide variety of dying handicraft traditions. For many artisans, handicraft production is their main source of income. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Sasha Exports since 1979.
