Lotus Serenity Fountain
Add the relaxing sound of bubbling water to your garden, patio or deck with this three-tiered ceramic lotus fountain. To create this fountain, artisans pour thin, light clay into and out of plaster molds, a process that creates the hollow ceramic pieces that are joined together for the final form. The piece is then dried in the sun, after which artisans hand-paint the glazed patterns. After glazing, the planter is fired in a gas kiln.

Use lowest setting on pump. If pressure is still to low, increase the pump setting slightly.

THE MAKERS

Viet Lam Company is a private export company that markets ceramics and lacquerware along with bamboo, palm leaf and rattan baskets. The company contracts orders to several factories and cooperatives in and around Ho Chi Minh City. Viet Lam provides piece rate work, materials for production and payment for labor costs. Additional benefits include interest-free loans to artisans for repairing tools and machines, advances of 30 to 50 percent for orders, and assistance with development of new designs and products. Viet Lam Company was established in 1993. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Viet Lam since 1998.
