Welcome to our global maker-to-market movement where, together with 20,000 artisans, we ignite social change. We create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities in developing countries to thrive through strong relationships, fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable practices.
Neutral monochromatic home decor is all the rage. Join the trend ethically with the Late Autumn Spiral Basket. This basket is hand-woven by women working with Uganda Crafts, an artisan group that provides single mothers widowed by the HIV/AIDS epidemic the opportunity to earn income weaving at home.

THE MAKERS
Uganda Crafts is the oldest and largest craft shop in Uganda. The organization brings a sustainable and fair income to their artisans, most of whom are either people with disabilities, widowed, or others often excluded from the global economy. They market the crafts for artisans and provide training in quality control, design and marketing. The organization also owns a retail store that provides employment for people with physical disabilities. In addition to training, employees receive health benefits, emergency loans and transportation. Uganda Crafts employs approximately 300 artisans in five workshops or cooperatives, 85 percent of them women. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Uganda Crafts since 1995.
