Help your neighborhood birds feel right at home with the In the Woods Birdhouse, made in the Philippines from a locally grown softwood Called takip asin by the Filipino makers, the Philippine coral tree is a type of shrub endemic to the Philippines which grows profusely around the country's tropical landscape. When its branches are cut for the production of such items, new stems regenerate almost instantaneously, making it a sustainable choice for twig decor. This birdhouse is crafted by artisans working with our partner Community Crafts Association, which provides marginalized artisans with export promotion and marketing assistance.

THE MAKERS

Community Crafts Association of the Philippines, popularly known as CCAP, is a social development nongovernmental organization committed to the development and empowerment of community–based Filipino artisans. CCAP provides marginalized artisans with export promotion and marketing assistance. Locally, CCAP links artisans with government or nongovernmental agencies supporting the handicraft industry. CCAP administers programs that have reached out to various sectors of the society such as the disabled, indigenous groups, urban poor and rural poor communities. Currently CCAP works with more than 600 active artisans nationwide. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from CCAP since 1985.
