Color Your Nature Wall Art

Coloring isn't child's play! Relax, exercise your creativity and create custom color artwork for your space with this coloring poster, featuring a hand-drawn tree design. Women in three Bangladesh workshops worked together to create the finished product - including the handmade cotton paper, screen printing, bamboo hanger, and handmade paper box. Meaning "nature" in Bengali, fair trade organization Prokritee supports over 1500 rural artisans who use renewable materials - from recycled sari to natural fibers - to create inspired product designs. The income women earn through employment with Prokritee helps them secure proper housing, adequate food and education for their children. Located mainly in rural areas across Bangladesh, workshops offer safe working conditions and source locally available materials, so that families can stay together in their home villages, rather than migrating to urban areas in search of jobs.

THE MAKERS

Prokritee (meaning "nature" in Bengali) manages several handicraft enterprises and helps other groups sell their products in local and foreign markets. Prokritee and its enterprises provide jobs for poor rural women. By providing jobs for women, Prokritee improves women’s standard of living and helps them send their children to school. The organization provides skills development training to artisans. Prokritee creates and promotes income–generating projects that benefit the artisans, adhere to good safety and environmental standards, and have the potential to become self–reliant. Prokritee was established in 2001 as an independent organization. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Prokritee and its predecessor MCC Bangladesh since 1986.
