STORY
One beautiful ancient practice reflects another. A dark bronze statute with green patina accents depicts a female in lotus pose with arms outstretched overhead. The Lost Wax Yoga Statue captures both grace and strength, making it a unique reminder of the power of peacefulness. To create this statue, makers first build a model made of beeswax and encase it in clay. Once the clay hardens, the wax is melted to create a mold of the figure inside. Liquid bronze is poured into the mold and once it sets, the clay is broken to reveal the bronze figure. This "lost wax" technique dates back hundreds of years and provides much needed employment opportunities to people in Burkina Faso.
