Indigo Geo Print Pillow
Handcrafted in India
STORY
This pillow has been a long time in the making. It takes about a year to make indigo ink. First, it must be harvested and dried in the sun. The dried leaves are flipped with a broom until they turn a navy hue. The leaves are eventually turned into the lovely indigo dye used for the Indigo Geo Print Pillow. The pattern of this pillow is created through a block-resisted dying technique called Shibori, which is a similar technique to tie-dying. This pillow is crafted with love and care by marginalized artisans who are given a safe space to earn a fair income with our fair trade partner MESH. MESH works with leprosy colonies and rehabilitation workshops in villages throughout India, ensuring fair wages and empowering those with limited opportunities due to the stigma of physical disabilities.
